hallo,
habe hier einen dell inspiron 6400 (tag: FYR0Q2J) und möchte alles komplett löschen und WinXP neu installieren. Hat sich da dell was cleveres ausgeacht oder muß ich mir alle treiber dann neu raussuchen (arbeit!!) ? oder wie mache ich das am besten?

Using Dell PC Restore by Symantec
NOTICE: Using Dell PC Restore permanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes any application programs or drivers installed after you received your computer. NOTE: Dell PC Restore by Symantec may not be available in certain countries nor on certain computers.
Use Dell PC Restore by Symantec only as the last method to restore your operating system. PC Restore restores your hard drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer. Any programs or files added since you received your computer—including data files—are permanently deleted from the hard drive. Data files include documents, spreadsheets, e-mail messages, digital photos, music files, and so on. If possible, back up all data before using PC Restore.
To use PC Restore:
1. Turn on the computer.
During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.
2. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press .
If you do not press in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the computer again.
NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.
3. On the next screen that appears, click Restore.
4. On the next screen, click Confirm.
The restore process takes approximately 6–10 minutes to complete.
5. When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.
NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.
6. When prompted, click Yes.
The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the computer was turned on.
7. Click Next.
The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.
8. After the computer restarts, click OK.

im laptop ist drin: 2 x 512 MB RAM (2 x HYS64T64020HDL-3.7-B, 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200S-444-12A0)
ist es ratsam, wenn ich einen 512-MB-Riegel gegen einen 2-GB-Riegel ersetze? somit hätte ich insgesamt 2,5 GB. wenn ja, welchen kaufe ich am besten?

Da der Intel® 945GM Express Chipsatz der Kiste Dual Channel unterstützt sollte man da zwei 1GB Module nehmen.

Bios A17 gerade installiert per dos von usb und dann boot. unter winxp wollte es das neue bios nicht installieren.
hab mich geirrt, es handelt sich um den laptop: FXR0Q2J

drücke ctrl+ f11beim booten bei der blauen dell-leiste, aber passiert nichts. winxp fährt normal hoch. mit F2 komme ich ins bios, mit F12 ins bootmenü. habe mit partiton magic nachgeschaut, da sind 2 unsichtbare partitionen, 2 GB+3 GB groß. warum klappt das nicht mit ctrl+f11 ?

läuft wie ne 1 !!! aber sehr schlecht gemacht von dell !! beim 15. versuch gings mit strg + f11. man muß genau die 1. sekunde vom blauen balken abpassen und dann nicht nochmal die tasten drücken. noch n image gemacht mit acronis true image somit kein ärger mehr in zukunft.
