Ein Bekannter bittet mich sein Toshiba Tablet Encore mit Win8.1 auf win10 auf einen aktuellen Betriebssystemstand zu bringen. Nun habe ich leider mit Tablets und dann noch mit einem Windowsbetriebssytem keine Erfahrung. Kann mir jemand ein in kurzen Worten erklären, wie man am geschicktesten vorgeht, um ein Win10 auf dieses Tablet zu bringen. Alle Inhalte sollen dabei verloren gehen; d.h. eine Neuinstallation, weil die aktuelle Softwarebestückung ohnehin eine Katastrophe ist.

Restoring the pre-installed software from the
Recovery Partition
A portion of the total storage space is configured as a hidden recovery
partition. This partition stores files which can be used to restore pre-
installed software in the event of a problem.
If you subsequently set up your storage space again, do not change, delete
or add partitions in a manner other than specified in the manual, otherwise
you may find that space for the required software is not available.
In addition, if you use a third-party partitioning program to reconfigure the
partitions on your storage space, you may find that it becomes impossible
to setup your tablet.
Make sure that the AC adaptor are connected during the restoring process.
When you reinstall the Windows operating system, the storage space may
be reformatted and all data may be lost.
1. In the Settings charm, tap Power and then select Shut down.
2. After completely shut down the tablet, wait for about 10 seconds. Then
hold down the Power button and Volume up button simultaneously
until the Boot menu is loaded and then select HDD Recovery.
3. A dialog box will appear asking if you are sure you wan to continue.
Select Yes.
4. Select Troubleshoot.
5. Select Reset your PC.
6. Follow the on screen instructions to finish the recovery.
You can also perform the restoration through PC settings in the operating
system:
1. Tap the Settings charm and tap Change PC settings.
2. Tap Update and recovery under PC settings and then tap Recovery.
3. Tap Get started under Remove everything and reinstall Windows.
4. Follow the on screen instructions to finish the recovery.

Macht man da und danach installiert man W10 als Upgrade.

Im Prinzip sollte man da auch per Enter Setup im Biosmenü das booten von USB aktivieren können und dann W10 per Stick installieren können (oder auch direkt von nem USB Stick booten), da sind dann aber AFAIK etliche Treiber nötig...

Also Dir fehlen die beiden wichtigsten Voraussetzungen, um den Job zu machen?
Warum lehnst Du ihn dann nicht ab?
Ich würde jemandem, der selbst sagt, dass er von der Sache keine Ahnung hat, solche Arbeiten nicht anvertrauen.

Du hast da völlig recht. Aber ablehnen kann ich den Job natürlich immer noch. Allerdings fehlende Erfahrung kann man ja vielleicht noch durch Ausprobieren erwerben und ich hoffe, dass mir die Forumsmitglieder dabei helfen. Ich bin da recht schmerzfrei und kaputtmachen kann man bei den Tablets eigentlich nichts. Wenn ich sehe, was der Besitzer bislang damit angestellt hat, kann es nur noch besser werden.

OK, das ist natürlich ein unschlagbares Argument...
kaputtmachen kann man bei den Tablets eigentlich nichts
Da wäre ich mir nicht so sicher.
Bei einem normalen PC (und in gewissen Grenzen auch noch bei einem Notebook), kann ich diverse Hardware, die ich evtl. kaputt mache, sehr einfach austauschen.
Installiere ich z.B. auf einem Notebook ein OS neu und bin mir nicht sicher, ob das klappt oder ob ich die alte Installation evtl. nochmal brauche (auch für Datenübernahme etc.), benutze ich einfach eine neue Festplatte und installiere alles dort drauf. Funktioniert's, ist's gut. Wenn nicht, kommt einfach wieder die alte Platte rein.
Das kann man bei einem Tablet vergessen...
Zum anderen ist dort das Booten von USB auch alles andere als selbsterklärend.
