1.2 The Automatic Lock Select Enable to activate the Lock at set intervals
Use the Automatic Lock to stop all Internet traffic at times during the day when you are not using your
machine. By simply selecting a few radio buttons on the Lock panel, you can program the Automatic Lock to
activate in these situations:
Whenever you are not using the Internet
Whenever your computer has not been used for a pre-set number of minutes
Whenever the screen saver takes control of your desktop
You can also grant a specific application the permission to bypass the Lock. This is a good way to allow
Internet access to programs, like your e-mail client, to check mail while at the same time, lock Internet access
for all other applications.
Set the lock in the
Automatic Lock section:
Click on the Enable radio
button to turn on the
Automatic Lock. The four
radio buttons directly below
allow you to set options:
1st radio button: Set the
number of minutes of
inactivity at your machine
after which you want the
lock to engage.
2nd radio button: This is
an alternative to setting
the number of minutes -
select this to have the
screen saver kick in the
lock.
3rd & 4th Lock Mode
buttons: Here, you either
allow Pass Lock programs
in to break through the
lock , or you set High
Security to stop ALL
TRAFFIC whenever the
automatic lock kicks in.
Click on the Disable radio button to turn off the Automatic Lock. Whenever this radio button is selected,
any options you've selected, like the minutes-of-inactivity or the screen saver option, will not kick in during
machine inactivity.
Notes:
ICS & NAT: If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro on an IC or NAT gateway machine, the Automatic Lock
will not lock Internet access for client computers.
Anytime the Automatic Lock is engaged using the minutes-of-inactivity option, the Lock button must
be unlocked. When the Lock button is set to unlocked, the Timer Bar, under the padlock, is Green.
