Kernel 2.4.1 will sich nicht übersetzen lassen

Moin,

ich habe verzweifelt versucht, den 2.4.1-er Kernel zu übersetzen.
Die Software, die benötigt wird (gcc, libs, make etc.) habe ich
angeblich alle in der richtigen Version.
Allerdings schmeißt das Make nach kurzer Zeit folgende Fehlermeldung:

Was nun? Ich habe die Kernel-Sourcen nach /usr/src/linux-2.4.1 entpackt, einen Link
nach /usr/src/linux gemacht, so wie ich es von 2.2.16-er gewöhnt bin.
Den zu übersetzen klappt auch weiterhin...
