Der device-Abschnitt ist für die konfiguration von der !!! Grafikkarte zuständig. Die Monitor und Screen -Abschnitte sind für die Konfiguration vom Monitor zuständig. Wenn du alte Konfigurationsdaten in der datei stehen lassen willst, dann mußt du sie mit dem #-Zeichen kommentieren. Die werden dann als kommentar gewertet und übersprungen.
Beispiel für eine NVidia-Grafikkarte mit XServer von XFree86 4.3:
